Abstract
The article discusses the history of Early Iron Age archaeology in Slovenia during the last 50 years. The most significant results, the issue concerning the origins and development of the southeastern Hallstatt culture, its place within the framework of Iron Age provinces and its relation to the historical cultures of Italy and Greece are presented.
