Janez DULAR:
The late Neolithic and Eneolithic settlements in central Slovenia
(Neolithische und äneolithische Höhensiedlungen in Zentralslowenien)
Abstract
The article presents twenty-two elevated upland settlements from the late Neolithic and Eneolithic in central Slovenia. The existence of elevated upland settlements significantly extends knowledge of the settlement structure of this period, as only lowland settlements in river bends and on river terraces were previously known from this region. Although the current state of research still does not permit a reliable historical interpretation, the elevated upland settlements were most probably strongholds along important routes or occasionally occupied refuges.
