Archaeoastronomy and Archaeology.
Reflections upon reading Astronomy in Prehistoric Britain and Ireland by Clive Ruggles

Abstract

The latest book written by the leading British archaeoastronomer provides a thorough synthesis of the results achieved thus far in the study of prehistoric astronomy on the British Isles, but since it includes a critical review of the growth of theorethical bases and methods and techniques applied in archaeoastronomical research, it also represents an important contribution to the development of archaeological methodology in general. Compelling arguments showing the role of archaeoastronomical investigations within archaeological discipline offer a convenient opportunity for a reflection on the necessity of incorporating studies of this kind into Slovenian archaeology.
