Preliminary report on the late Roman cemetery at Vrajk in Gorenji Mokronog

Abstract

The article presents the excavated section (consisting of 20 graves) of a destroyed cemetery from the late Roman period (late Antiquity) at the site of Vrajk in Gorenji Mokronog under Trebelno. The author attributes the graves to the Romanized indigenous population and dates them to the period at the end of the 6th and the beginning of the 7th centuries. The possibility is noted of a continuous transition into the early medieval period. This hypothesis derives from results of investigation into the settlement corresponding to the cemetery and the abundant folk history.
