Find of roman bronze bells from Monatshausen
(Der römische Bronzeglockenfund von Monatshausen in Oberbayern)

The article presents a yet unpublished 1883 discovery from the marsh near Monatshausen. The find comprises of six bronze bells, two iron balances and other household appliances. Other bronze bells from the Alpine region are cited for comparison and the proposed chronological attribution is to the mid 3rd century BC or later. The explanation of the various tone levels is not clear, nor is the description of inscriptions that were incised into the clay core of the mold prior to the casting of the bells.
