Janez DULAR:

Die eisenzeitliche Siedlung und die Gräberfelder auf der Libna
Topographie und Quellen

(Iron Age settlements and cemeteries at Libna. Topography and sources)

Abstract

The article presents the results of field survey of the archaeological site of Libna, one of the most important Iron Age centers in southeastern Slovenia. The small finds from Libna were already presented to the archaeological public decades ago, but at that point exact topographic investigation of the site had not been carried out. Field survey at Libna in 1992 documented seven inhabitation units: a fortified settlement and six tumulus cemeteries, found at the end of the 19th century. A supplement at the end of the article provides archival sources important for a correct understanding of the settlement structure and the history of research into this site.

Keywords: southeastern Slovenia, late Bronze Age, early Iron Age, fortified elevated settlements/hillforts, tumulus cemeteries, field survey, archival sources
